BodyWorks is a unique and innovative approach to full body mobility and strength offered at our clinic in downtown Toronto. Each BodyWorks session is one-on-one and individualized for your specific restrictions and movement deficits. During your 60-minute session our Registered Massage Therapist and Joga Coach, Melissa Doldron, will guide your body through an individualized Joga exercise routine. Your session will culminate with Fascial Stretch Therapy techniques to reduce tension and enhance mobility in your most stiff and tense body regions.
What Is BodyWorks?
This one of a kind program was designed for patients who spend hours at their desk and computers but lead an active lifestyle and expect a lot from their bodies. This unique and active approach to massage, awakens your stabilization system through a series of Joga based exercises which helps your tense muscles relax and allows your postural muscles to take control. Every individualized BodyWorks session will begin with Joga, to help identify and work on imbalances and build strength. Then you will be led into deep stretches with Fascial Stretch Therapy and soft tissue work, combined for recovery. After your BodyWorks Session you will feel stronger, more balanced in your muscular system, have improved joint mobility, more flexibility, improved stability, while feeling energized and less tense throughout your body
What is JOGA?
Joga is an athletic based style of yoga that incorporates:
- Unique blend of postures to find balance in strength and flexibility/mobility
- Variety of breathing techniques to improve breath control/recovery
- Restorative postures and relaxation tools to maintain a calm mind in sport and life
This movement-based program is designed to be a complement to existing training and/or rehab. The movements/postures are often the similar each time and progress in difficulty as you advance. The program is infiltrated with benchmark postures so that you can assess your progress at each session. Joga practice will help you understand the mechanics of the body, teach you how to move within the body’s limitations, and improve your body intelligence. The sequence of exercises will be individualized to meet your specific rehab goals or focus on your particular symptoms. By engaging your deep core and stabilization system, your tense muscles will be able to relax and you will gain more mobility through your joints.
Fascial Stretch Therapy
After working your muscles during your Joga session, you will be led into restorative deep stretches and a Fascial Stretch Therapy session for recovery. The stretching techniques are focused on releasing and mobilizing the fascia, joint capsule and other connective tissues that may be limiting your flexibility, strength and performance.
